Abstract

1361389 Sampling furnace charges LAND PYROMETERS Ltd 27 July 1971 [6 Aug 1970] 37907/70 Heading F4B A molten steel sampling device comprises a cardboard tube 2 secured within a blind bore 3 in the side of a sand/resin mould 4 with a steel lining. 5 split longitudinally and held in the mould by a steel annulus 6, the device being also formed with a combustible slag cap 7. Aluminium wire 8 is provided if necessary to kill the sampled steel. After sampling, the tube 2 is removed from the mould for insertion in another and the mould is broken to reveal the sample enclosed by the split lining 5.
