Abstract
1361082 Liquid-cooled disc brakes H KLAUE 6 Aug 1971 [7 Aug 1970 22 Oct 1970] 37009/71 Heading F2E A vehicle transmission brake comprises two opposed annular non-rotatable brake rings 31, 35, one of which is axially slidable, engageable with an axially slidable rotating disc 41 with friction surfaces, each ring having an annular recess containing a contact ring 39, 40 having coolant liquid filled annular chambers 43, 44 defined by concentric grooves thereof, the chambers forming a continuous duct in each ring having an inlet and an outlet. The disc 41 is splined on a transmission shaft 28, 29 and the annular rings 31, 35 being relatively movable by balls 36 in inclined sockets or an annular hydraulic piston 37 in a fixed plate 32. A ring lying between the plate 32 and the ring 35 is moved peripherally by a rod 45 actuated by a pneumatic device 47 to operate the balls 36. Wear adjustment is made by means of a one-way device 48 and a sleeve 50 which, when the rod 45 exceeds a certain travel on its return stroke, contacts a plate 51 and causes the rod to slide in the one-way device.
