Abstract

136,090. Smith, E. W. May 7, 1919. Slide-rules.-Friction between the slide 1 and the side members 3 of slide-rules is produced by means of a spring back 9 connecting the separate side members 3, the back being slightly bowed at its centre. Between the parts 3 and the spring plate is clamped, by screws or nails which pass through both members into the part 3, a celluloid scale plate 8 slighty grooved at the centre to facilitate bending and formed with plain edges.
