Abstract
136,062. British Thomson - Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). March 31, 1919. Coating and damping machines. - Electric incandescent lamp-caps are coated with an inner layer of cement, for attaching them to bulbs by the machine shown. The caps are placed in holders 17 on the circumference of an intermittingly rotating table 16. As each cap arrives below a feed-tube 21, the rotation of the table ceases, the feed-tube is depressed into the cap, and the holder 17 is given one complete rotation about its axis, cement being thus applied all round the inside of the cap through an aperture 22 in the feedtube 21. The tube 21 then rises and the holder 17 passes on. The aperture 22 is closed in the raised position by a spring-pressed sleeve 25. The caps are pressed down in the holders before reaching the feeding position by an arm 32 and are ejected afterwards by a fixed cam actuating a plunger 20. The cement is fed into the tube 21 from a reservoir 27 by a continuously rotating screw.
