Abstract
1360460 Lanolin fatty acids G RIALDI 21 Oct 1971 [26 Oct 1970] 49059/71 Heading C2C Fractions of lanolin fatty acids are obtained by preparing a mixture of raw lanolin fatty acids from technical lanolin (e.g. by saponification followed by treatment with strong acid) dissolving the mixture in C 5 to C 8 hydrocarbons, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl acetone or mixtures thereof at approximately 40‹C. to form a saturated solution, cooling the latter without evaporation of solvent to approximately 20‹C., then slowly evaporating a part of the solvent under reduced pressure to crystallize predetermined fractions of the lanolin fatty acids, and separating each fraction from the solution. The solution of raw acids may be pre-purified by filtration through a bed of absorbing earth and fractions of pure acids are preferably obtained at + 20 to + 18‹ C.; + 16 to + 10‹ C.; +5 to 0‹C.; -8 to -12‹C.; and -16 to -18‹C.
