Abstract
135,955. Barron, W. S., and Barron, G. S. Dec. 6, 1918. Impact pulverizers.-To reduce wear of the screen in disk pulverizers, the material is arranged to pass through two separate grinding- compartments, separated by the disk, before reaching the screen, which is arranged in the second compartment, material that fails to pass the screen being returned to the second compartment for further grinding. In the pulverizer shown in Fig. 1, the casing is divided into compartments c, c<1> by a disk d provided on both sides with pins c passing between projections or slotted rings f formed on plates f<1>. The peripheries of the compartments c, c<1> are formed by a chilled and toothed or corrugated casting g, and a screen j, respectively, a port h in the compartment c communicating by means of a channel h<1> with a shoot i which leads to the eye of the chamber c<1>. The shoot i also communicates with the chamber c<1> by means of a port k. Material is fed through a shoot a, and is pulverized in the chambers c, c<1> before reaching the screen, over-size material being returned through the port to the chamber c<1> for further grinding. According to the Provisional Specification, screens may be provided in both compartments.
