Abstract

1358595 Electrostatographic developers RANK XEROX Ltd 24 Aug 1971 [24 Aug 1970] 39610/71 Heading G2H A liquid developer comprising gelatine particles dispersed in an insulative carrier liquid also comprises alpha-chloro beta-carboxy betaphenoxy acrolein, or the corresponding beta (pcarboxy phenoxy) or beta (p-methoxy phenoxy) compound, in the form of separate particles or impregnated in the gelatine particles. After development, the modified gelatine image is fixed (if necessary) with steam and hardened (by reaction between the gelatine and acrolein compound) by heating at 75-140‹ C. 0.0001-0.05 pts of acrolein compound per pt of gelatine and 0.005-5 pts of gelatine per 100 pts of liquid may be employed. The developer may be used to produce printing plates for registered multicolour printing.
