Abstract

1358491 Ultrasonic probe VEBA-CHEMIE AG 8 June 1972 [11 June 1971] 26846/72 Heading H4J An ultrasonic probe for measuring the wall thickness of pipes from the inside thereof, comprises a rod-like member 2 which is mounted at its ends in off-centre bores of two guide bushes 4, 5; an ultrasonic transducer 1 which is spring-urgeable 3 against the inner wall of a pipe; an electrical coupling 8 for carrying signals to and fro between the transducer and a measuring apparatus; and a bore 7 through the rod for conveying coupling liquid from a supply pipe 9 to the head of the transducer. The latter may be provided with a plastics cap whose outer surface conforms to the inner surface of the pipe.
