Abstract

1358475 Image pick up tubes ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO Ltd 16 Nov 1972 [17 Feb 1972] 7353/72 Heading H1D A camera tube comprises a wall anode connected to an external terminal and a mesh electrode disposed in front thereof, two diametrically opposed conductors extending therefrom to a further terminal external of the tube envelope, and fusible means 7, 8 internal of the envelope provided to electrically connect the wall anode to the opposed conductors, whereby the tube after completion of manufacture, may be converted from a tube exhibiting characteristics of the integral mesh type, Fig. 1 (not shown), to a separate mesh type, Fig. 2 (not shown) by fusing the fusible means. Preferably the fusible means is two thin Pt strips, conversion being by passage of current via terminals 3, 4. Further fusible means 9 of greater current carrying capacity is fused by RF heating after manufacture while leaving the first means intact. Where an integral mesh tube is required, strip 9 is fused to break open the loop of conductors 5, 6 to inhibit inductive pick up. Reference is made to prior art opposed conductors minimizing "line scan pick up" by rotation of tube to achieve cancelling, the above construction eliminating the requirement of use at a particular orientation.
