1358402 Enriched foods VITAMINS Inc 21 May 1971 [25 May 1970] 60184/73 Divided out of 1358401 Heading A2B Supplemented food products, in particular toasted flaked cereal products, are prepared by processing a base food product at an elevated temperature, applying to at least a portion of the surface thereof a food supplement comprising finely divided particles of an edible metabolisable fat carrier having admixed therein minor amounts of an assimilable iron compound, vitamin, micronutrient, or mixtures thereof, said fat having a melting point below the aforesaid elevated temperature, and preferably in the range 100-250‹F, maintaining the fat in contact with the base food for sufficient time for the fat to melt and thus adhere to the surface, and then cooling the product to below the melting point of the fat.
