Abstract

1358390 Injection moulding machine nozzles BISCHOFF CHEMICAL CORP 20 Sept 1971 43711/71 Heading B5A A nozzle for an injection moulding machine comprises an externally threaded hind member 341 (Fig. 3) engaging an internally threaded fore member 332, the hind member having a tubular portion 394 fitting with close tolerance within the fore member and having a zone 395 which can be expanded against the fore member by the pressure of injected material so as to prevent rotation thereof and seepage of material between the members 341, 332. Escape of material is further hindered by 0-rings 374, 378, 380. Any material which does reach a groove 382 or a chamber 384 can escape through holes 383, 385. Fig. 1 shows a mould 11 for making a boat and having a plurality of orifices 21, 22 supplied by injection nozzles 31. An extension member 39 may be inserted between portions 40, 41 of the nozzle, being held in place by couplings 37, 38 incorporating screwed ferrules (as 154, 155 in Fig. 2, not shown). The nozzle outlet 391 can be closed by a plunger 390.
