Abstract

1358145 Mineral-mining installation CHARBONNAGES DE FRANCE 22 Feb 1972 [22 Feb 1971] 8159/72 Heading E1F In a mineral-mining installation in which a cutting machine-guiding face conveyer 2 is advanced by pusher rams 4, the rams are simultaneously fed by a hydraulic circuit 5, 6, 7 with fluid at a pressure that is controlled in dependence of a comparison of the advance of the conveyer at a point along the conveyer reached by a cutting machine, e.g. a plough 1, in a traversal along the conveyer and the advance of some other point, preferably the most lagging point, along the conveyer. The system involves displacement pick ups 81-88 for simultaneously measuring the advance of different points of the conveyer, monitoring means for comparing information from the pick ups, and regulating means operable to adjust the pressure in the hydraulic circuit 5, 6, 7 in accordance with the information received. Manually and automatically controlled systems are described. Preferably each pick up involves anchoring the free end of a roll of perforated tape 16 mounted on the conveyer and passing the tape beneath a plunger 26, 30 controlling a micro switch 28 to a counting circuit so that the circuit is actuated everytime the plunger drops into one of the regularly spaced perforations in the tape as it passes beneath the plunger as it is pulled off of the roll on the advance of that part of the conveyer on which the pick up is mounted.
