Abstract

1358054 Pneumatic conveyers POLYSIUS AG 20 Sept 1971 [3 Dec 1970] 43676/71 Heading B8A In an air distribution system for supplying air, for example, to silos, a chamber 1 has an inlet pipe 2 and a plurality of outlet pipes 3, 4, 5 connected to respective silos and each controlled by a valve 6 comprising a closure plate 8 and a bellows 9. The air pressure in the chamber 1 acts upon the valve in a direction to open same, whilst the interior of the valve is in communication through pipes 12, 14 with the pipe 2 whereby the air pressure in the pipe 2 in combination with a spring 11 acts in a direction to close the valve. In operation an electromagnet 16 controls a three-way valve 7 to vent the interior of the valve 6 to atmosphere and as long as there is pressurized air within the chamber 1 the valves 6 remain open, but should the pressure fail, for some reason, the valves 6 will shut and thereby prevent reverse flow along the pipes 3. A separate air supply to the interior of the valves 6 may be supplied by a compressor 18.
