Abstract
1358030 Sintered filters TOYOTA CHUO KENKYUSHO KK 12 May 1971 [12 May 1970] 35566/73 Divided out of 1352419 Headings BID and BIT [Also in Division C7] A sintered metal filter with a series of uniform straight through round holes is made by coating a series of wires with a metal powder, bundling the wires together into a compact with the wires parallel to one another and sintering the compact to vaporise, burn or melt the wires. The powder may be Fe, steel, stainless steel, W or W base alloys, Mo or Cr and the wires may be Cu, steel, Fe, Ni, Ni-Cr or rayon, 0.1-2 mm. diameter and 10-1000 holes may be formed in the filter. The filters can be used for filtering solids from liquids, selective filtration of gases and powder, and in air vents in metal casting for filtering gases escaping from the casting moulds.
