Abstract
1357764 Workpiece transfer devices SOC DES ACIERS FINS DE L'EST 30 Nov 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 55516/71 Heading B3H A multistage press has a workpiece transfer device which comprises a set of clamps A 1 , A 2 , A 3 , A 4 mounted on horizontal arms B 1 , B 2 , B 3 , B 4 of a carriage C which is vertically movable by a fluid jack V on a further carriage F adapted to be horizontally movable by a fluid jack G in the direction of the clamps and supported on a pivoted arm L so that the transfer device can be retracted from the working stations of the press. Each clamp comprises a pair of jaws M 1 , M 2 , Fig. 7, actuated through a double toggle linkage 10, 13 by an hydraulic unit 8, 9 so that the jaws move forward as they close and backwards as they open. The clamps engage the burr of the forged workpiece and a reciprocable bar R, Fig. 3, supports the workpiece by the burr at the other side during transfer. The bar R is moved synchronously with the jaws.
