1357641 Mineral-mining machines; fire damp neutralising COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 9 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 29582/71 Headings E1F and E1X Mounted within a housing for the drive motor of the cutter head of a mineral-mining machine'is a fan 14 which is driven from the motor and ducting 18, 22 to feed air to and from the fan. Preferably the fan is driven from the drive shaft 5 of the motor through a clutch 10 and the ducting 22 feeding air from the fan may form the upper part of the housing and directs the air through two outlets 23, 24 to the cutter head 2 to disperse any concentration of dust and/or inflammable gas around the head.
