Abstract

1356891 Timers; pneumatic winding H I BEAM PRODUCTS Ltd 12 Oct 1972 [18 Oct 1971] 47053/72 Heading G3T [Also in Division F2] A timing device comprises a body 10 housing a valve 11, an escapement 15 operatively connected to the valve, a pneumatically operated piston 29 for winding the escapement, and stops 18, 25 for limiting the extent to which the escapement is wound. The piston winds the escapement through a rack and pinion 26, 27 until the stop 18 on the escapement shaft engages the stop 25 adjustably positioned by a knob 20 clamped to a calibrated plate 22. A spring 30 returns the piston to its starting position and the escapement rotates a cam 13 until a depression 16 in the cam receives a ball 12 on the valve. Rapid operation of the valve is ensured by providing a lostmotion in the cam mounting so that the cam is rotated over the last part of its travel by downward movement of the ball in the depression.
