1356703 Piston rings GIRLING Ltd 4 Dec 1972 [6 Jan 1972] 567/72 Heading F2T In a piston for use in a vehicle hydraulic braking or clutching system and comprising a body having an annular groove housing a U- section elastomeric packing ring comprising a base portion 16 and axially extending arms 17 and 18, the base of the groove is profiled to have a cylindrical seating length 22 for the base portion 16 of the ring and an outwardly tapering seating length 23 for the free end of the inner arm 17 of the ring. The length 22 has a greater axial extent than the base portion 16.
