Abstract
1356620 Dicarboxylic acids BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 19 Oct 1971 [20 Oct 1970] 48511/71 Heading C2C Mixtures of adipic, glutaric, and succinic acids prepared by oxidizing mixtures of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone, or cyclohexane with nitric acid at elevated temperature in the presence of copper and vanadium as catalyst are purified by distilling off the nitric acid and water and feeding into a falling film evaporator at 170 to 240‹ C. and a pressure from 1 to 20 mm. The catalyst may be recovered from the residue either by leaching with water or by burning with natural gas and precipitating as oxide from the flue gas by electrostatic methods or cloth filter.
