1356228 Feeding sheets POLYGRAPH LEIPZIG KOMBINAT FUR POLYGRAPHISCHE MASCHINEN UND AUSRUSTUNGEN VEB 31 Aug 1972 40336/72 Heading B8R The position of a sheet 2, Fig. 1, on the layboard 1 of a sheet-processing machine is detected by a light source 4 and a photo-electric receiving means 5, the light beam passing obliquely through the plane of the sheet path and being reflected by the surface 8 of a prism 6 so as to extend parallel to the board to the receiving means 5. The light source 4 and its housing component 3, covers the area of the angle of incidence in which light is totally reflected, so as to exclude stray light from the receiver. The surface 6 may be coated with a reflecting medium. The prism 6, Figs. 1 and 3, can be adjusted, optionally together with the receiving means 5, parallel to the board 1 by a screw 11. In another form, Fig. 4, the prism 6, and again optionally the receiving means, is adjusted pivotally about an axis 12 by a screw 14.
