Abstract

1355675 Boots &c STYLO MATCHMAKERS INTERNATIONAL Ltd 4 July 1972 [5 July 1971] 313446/71 Heading A3B A stud or spike, e.g. for a golf shoe, includes a base plate 1, a shank portion 4 and a tip 10 made of harder material than that of the base plate 1. The base plate 1 and shank 4 may be integral (not shown) or welded together at 6 and may both be made of mild steel, the tip 10 being formed of tungsten carbide. The tip 10 may be secured to the shank 4 by weldable material 11 introduced into bore 9 before insertion of the tip 10, the assembly then being heated to weld the tip 10 to the shank 4. The shank 4 may be provided with a flange 7 and the base plate 1 is provided with apertures 3 through which plastics material flows when the stud is embedded in the sole or heel during the moulding thereof.
