Abstract

1355314 Supporting endless belts GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE AG 25 Oct 1972 [27 Oct 1971] 49153/72 Heading B8A An endless belt 5 extending between reversing means 1 is supported by a plurality of belt supporting units 3 coupled end to end and each carrying endless cables 4 which support the belt 5, some of the units having a drive motor for driving the cables 4 of that unit. The cables 4 extend round pulleys 7 and engage profiled portions 12 of the belt 5, which is troughed during its upper run and provided with central members 14 which embrace an endless cable 9 trained round pulleys 8 on the unit 3. The units have coupling members (6<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2) which permit limited lateral and vertical play between the units, the cable 8 extending beyond the coupling member (6) at one end of each unit 3. When the cables 4 are to be driven, they are trained round driving pulleys 20. The conveyer may be mobile, fixed, or suspended.
