Abstract
1355294 Bundling rods TUBE PRODUCTS Ltd 19 April 1973 [22 April 1972] 18784/72 Heading B8C Apparatus for applying straps or ties around bundles of rods, bars or tubes includes at least one loop 4 permanently present and of variable peripheral length, and means 7 to contract the loop on to the bundle to compact it whilst a permanent strap or tie is applied. Tubes &c. may roll down bars 1 on to grooved rollers 2 which feed the tubes into a pair of steel loops 4 between which at P string, metal wire, a textile web, or a synthetic resin strap is applied to the bundle. One end of each loop is anchored while the other end is connected to a pneumatic piston rod 6. A plurality of barrels &c. may be applied to the bundle by advancing the bundle step wire through the loops, or by reciprocating the loops 4 and banding apparatus along the bundle, or by having a plurality of bundling and compacting machines.
