Abstract

1355244 Coating composition MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 13 May 1971 [21 May 1970] 14836/71 Heading C3B A prefabrication primer paint comprises: (I) as resinous base, hydrolysed ethyl silicate, phenoxy resin, epoxy resin cured with polyamide and combinations of vinyl butyral and phosphoric acid, (II) a semi-conductive pigment selected from ferroaluminium, ferrosilicon, calcium silicide, ferromanganese, ferrochromium, metallic silicon and iron oxide and (III) as rust preventative pigment Zn or Al. The amounts of I, II and III are selected so that a solid film of the paint contains 1-45% by volume of I, 5-65% by volume of III, the balance being II. In examples I is phenoxy resin, II is Si, mixed with iron oxide; or ferroaluminium, ferrosilicon and calcium silicide; and III is Zn. The coatings have good corrosion resistance and good welding properties.
