Abstract
1354682 Cathode-ray tubes SANDERS ASSOCIATES Inc 19 April 1971 [2 April 1970] 58626/73 Divided out of 1354681 Heading H1D A flat cathode-ray tube wherein deflecting means scan the beam in two directions before it enters a space between a screen and an adjacent repeller electrode, is characterized in that the repeller electrode comprises a number of parallel conductive strips arranged on an insulating support and connected together by resistive elements. The resistive elements are connected at alternate ends of the strips in zig-zag fashion and may be graded in value to give a non-linear (e.g. exponential) voltage drop. The conductive strips may be resistive and may vary in width along their lengths to modify the beam-directing field pattern. The tube may be a camera tube or a display tube; the repeller electrode may be transparent and the screen may comprise luminescent material on a layer of conductive material. The tube may contain two or more luminescent screens each adjacent a beamdirecting electrode, and the screens may luminesce in different colours.
