Abstract
1354603 Digital transmission; master and slave systems KOMBINAT ZENTRONIK VEB 8 May 1971 13892/71 Heading H4P A data terminal includes one or more data output channels and data input channels linked by a register, and has devices for recognizing a status signal from a peripheral unit currently receiving data from the terminal. The status signal causes the terminal to stop transmitting and to be made ready to receive over an input channel. When a control signal is received the terminal resumes transmission. The embodiment shown includes three units 101-103, unit 101 receiving data over channels DAT.E1-E8, and units 102, 103 transmitting data over channels DAT.A1-A8 and DAT.- D1-D8. The terminal also has input units 13-18, for example an input for data representing measured values, a keyboard, &c. These units are coupled to a control unit 12 as indicated. Register 11 receives data from unit 101 and control unit 12, and delivers data to units 102, 103. When the terminal is transmitting data from units 13-18 via unit 102 the receipt of a status signal over lines STA.A1-A3 is detected by unit 9 and signalled to the control unit. In consequence the control unit prevents further transmission by unit 102 and enables unit 101 to receive data. Data received by unit 101 is passed to output unit 103, which feeds a printer, and may control check-printing or cause the generation of control signals which are sent to the printer. When a control signal is received by unit 101 over lines DAT.E1-E8 transmission from unit 102 resumes.
