Abstract

1354514 Dishwashing machine HOOVER Ltd 14 June 1971 [15 June 1970] 28872/70 Heading A4F A dish washing machine has at least one rotating arm 12, 13 with jet nozzles fed from a rotating manifold 14 with at least one part 15 which co-operates with stationary parts 20, 26 provided jointly by a fixed supply duct 19 and a valve sleeve 25 adjustable relative to the duct to enable the flow to the arm to be restricted when it is in certain variable angular positions. Two nozzle carrying arms 12, 13 rotate about a liquid feed pipe 19. The end of the pipe is provided with axially extending slots 20 separated by bars 21 of twice the width of the slots. Sleeve 25 has similarly axially extending slots 26, 29 and bars 27, 28 but these are not of uniform size. Bars 27 are half the widths of slots 26, bar 28 has the width of a slot 26 and of a feed pipe slot 20, sleeve slot 29 has the width of a bar 21 and two slots 20. The arrangement is such that in one position (shown) none of the feed pipe slots 20 are impeded, by rotating the sleeve clockwise the right hand slots are progressively blocked Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) and by rotating the sleeve anti-clockwise the left hand slots are progressively blocked Figs. 6, 7 (not shown). This rotation may be achieved automatically by providing the sleeve with arms 32, 33 which strike a pin located in any of four portions Figs. 8, 9 (not shown). The jets of liquid emanating from the nozzles are thus reduced in intensity in particular directions which may be used for delicate dishware.
