Abstract
1354478 Supply systems depending on two or more sources BURNDEPT ELECTRONICS (ER) Ltd 6 May 1971 [14 April 1970] 17642/70 Heading H2H The output of a mobile radio transmitter is maintained at its rated value by connecting an auxiliary supply source to, or disconnecting the auxiliary source from, a main power source when the potential of the main source falls below a first predetermined value and rises above a second predetermined value respectively. A radio transmitter 6 is supplied from a main power source 1, which may be the generator/battery combination of the vehicle, by way of switch contacts 3, 4. A voltage sensor 2 is provided to control the operation of the contacts 3, 4 such that when the potential of the source 1 is above a given value the contacts 3, 4 are in the illustrated positions so that the source 1 supplies the transmitter 6 and simultaneously charges an auxiliary battery 5 by way of a current-limiting resistor 9. If the potential of the main source 1 falls below a second given value the sensor 2 causes the contacts 3, 4 to change over thus connecting the battery 5 in series with the source 1 to supply the transmitter 6. If desired more than one auxiliary source may be used, connected in series with one another as required.
