Abstract

1354252 Drying wigs R GRIFONI 28 Jan 1972 [28 Jan 1971] 4189/72 Heading A4V A dummy head for use in drying wigs comprises a hollow head having a shape similar to a human head, formed of a network structure and with an aperture on one side corresponding to the front region of a human head. Wires 4, which may constitute the network, radiate from an occipital region 1 of the dummy head in pairs to a circular region 3 where they are secured before diverging to join either side edge 5 of the frontal opening or the bottom edge 6, the wires at the edges being secured by bending or soldering. A plurality of pointed ends 12 and flexible arms 7 serve to secure the wig to the head at the frontal opening and bottom edge. The base of the head is secured to a tubular support 8 which carries two flexible arms 9 mounted on pivots (10) Fig.2 (not shown) and disposed either side of the frontal opening to enable the head to be held in an electric hair dryer. The head may alternatively be manufactured from a pre-formed mesh or network, preferably a wire-mesh, by clipping, bending, modelling, stitching or soldering as required to produce the desired shape. The head may alternatively be formed from one or more pieces of rigid material from which parts are stamped out to provide the required network.
