Abstract

135,397. Horton, S. Feb. 26, 1919. Fusible sprinkler heads.-A cap or cover a of paper, waxed paper, fibre, &c. for protecting sprinkler heads is provided with apertures c, Fig. 1, normally closed by disks, plates or strips d of metal or other material adapted to fuse at a lower temperature than the fusion temperature of the head. The cap is so attached at e as to be readily separated and removed by the issuing water. In a modification, the fusible part may consist of a band h, Fig. 2, encircling the cap, either in an uninterrupted line or in detached sections: on the fusion of such band, the lower part g of the cap may be removed by gravity or by a spring. In further modifications, the fusible part consists of a plate or cap at the bottom of the cover supporting a layer of slag wool or other non-conductor of heat.
