Abstract

120,427. Horton, S. Nov. 7, 1917. Sprinklers, automatic.-In an automatic sprinkler system, the supply of liquid to the sprinkler heads is controlled by means of a valve h bearing against a flexible diaphragm c held closed by a fusible connexion engaging a stem projecting therefrom. Fig. 1 shows a form in which the valve h is mounted in a casing a having two or more outlets and is held closed by means of the levers k, l retained in position by means of a cap m secured by an easily fusible solder. The cap m is provided with a slot covered by a strip o hooked at p and soldered to the cover at q. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the levers are replaced by a spring between the valve and the cover m, and, in a further modification, the valve bears directly on the cap. The exits of the tubes to the sprinkler heads are closed by means of wood, card, &c. t, Fig. 1, to prevent access of vapour when the valve is closed.
