Abstract

1353865 Supply systems for electricallypropelled vehicles MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AG 2 May 1972 [3 May 1971] 20414/72 Headings B7H and B7L An electricity supply system for supplying a tram or bus comprises stretches of electricallylive rail or wire for supplying current to the vehicle, and selected sections of electricallydead rail or wire whereat the vehicle is powered by electric power storage means in the vehicle, the selected sections of electrically-dead rail or wire being at branchings or cross-overs where the construction of the rails or wires would otherwise be complicated. As shown a rail 2 projecting slightly above the surface of a roadway 1 is contacted by a current collector 3 articulately suspended beneath a vehicle 5. The vehicle carries storage batteries from which it is supplied through automatic switching means when it leaves the rail or is running over an electrically-dead section.
