Insulators.-In an electric insulator of the kind having a number of insulating-parts separated by conducting-parts forming a series of condensers, the areas of the conducting- surfaces and the thicknesses of the insulating-layers are so designed as to give a uniform potential-drop along the outside surface of the insulator. In the conatruction shown, the head of the insulator is covered by a metal hood c, and the insulating-parts a are coated with a metallic varnish made from linseed oil and fine aluminium powder or minium.
