Abstract

735,609. Sparking plugs. ROCHAT, J. Sept. 29, 1953 [Oct. 6, 1952], No. 26736/53. Class 7(4). [Also in Groups XXI and XL(a)] A spark generator comprises two electrodes 1, 2 connected to a voltage source T and mounted on a support 3 of insulating material, a layer of metal in a colloidal state being applied to one surface of the support to form a conducting zone P. The metal may be colloidal silver, copper, gold or zinc. The electrodes may be of the same metal e.g. copper, iron or zinc or of different metals e.g. copper and zinc. The colloidal metal solution is applied to the insulator 3 with a brush or in a spray and then hardened. Two or more layers may be applied. Heat treatment is applied to the insulators to strengthen the adhesion and remove any electrostatic stress between the insulator and the metal, a temperature between 600‹ and 700‹C. being preferred for the treatment.
