Abstract

1353237 Crimping yarns SNAM PROGETTI SpA 7 Sept 1971 [7 Sept 1970] 41772/71 Headings D1D and D1F In a continuous yarn-crimping process, falsetwist is imparted by a roller, freely rotatable about its longitudinal axis (which is inclined e.g. 5-65‹, to the direction in which yarn is fed from a heater) and having a circumference gradually increasing from a central (waisted) region to each end thereof e.g. the roller may be of paraboloidal form, around which the yarn is wound helically at least once. Movement of yarn from feeding means e.g. driven nip rollers, to a take-up device e.g. ring twisting spindle, causes rotation of the roller which in turn induces false-twist in the yarn. The process may be combined with yarn drawing effected by apparatus e.g. drawing and spacer rolls, positioned upstream or downstream of the heater e.g. a heated metal plate with the surface of which the yarn makes sliding contact, and false-twisting roller.
