Abstract
1352977 Infrared gas analysis SIEMENS A G 29 Feb 1972 [1 March 1971] 9406/72 Heading G1A A detecting device for use in infrared gas analysis comprises first and second volumes, V1 and V1, joined by a first passageway L1 to define a first gas containing structure, third and fourth volumes, V2 and V2', joined by a second passageway L2 to define a second gas containing structure, and detecting means D, K connected between the two structures so as to be responsive to differences in gas pressure, or to gas flow, therebetween produced by virtue of differences in heating resulting from incidence of I. R. radiation upon the two structures. The centre of gravity of detecting gas filling the first structure is located between the first and second volumes, while the centre of gravity of detecting gas filling the second structure is located between the third and fourth volumes. A gas analyzer using the device is shown in Fig. 5. Infrared from a source 1 is reflected at 2, modulated by a chopper 4 and divided to form two beams. A measuring beam passes through a chamber 6 through which flows the gas under test, and a reference beam passes through a sealed reference chamber 7.
