1352617 Readily accessible thrasher concave SPERRY RAND CORP 6 July 1971 [6 July 1970] 31575/71 Heading A1F Each of a pair of thrashing units 11 Fig. 2, extending longitudinally relative to the combine harvester, is accessible by means of an opening 25 having a cover 26 in the side of framework 10, such that on removal of plate 56, access is provided to the concave 45, rotor 55 and interior of the thrashing casing. Cover 26, provided with handles 33, has an upper flange 27 hooked over bracket 28 mounted on a beam 40, and has a lower L-shaped flange 29 fitted over studs 30 and resting on a longitudinally extending flange 31 on housing 10, the studs 30 extending through flange 29. The fastening means 32 are provided to lock cover 26 on the side of the housing 10. Beam 40 Fig. 3 has a flat portion 40a parallel to housing 10 and an inwardly extending inclined portion 40b, the arrangement allowing for some movement of plate 56 during thrashing. Concave 45 comprises front and rear, transversely extending members 46, 47, curved to complement thrashing rotor 55 Fig. 3. The front and rear member having longitudinally extending parallel concave bars 48 welded thereto to provide the thrashing action. Concave 45 is adjustable through a link mechanism by links 50, 51 fastened into the end of the concave members 46, 47. Removable side plate 56, provided with elongated holes for separating grain, has a supporting tubular mounting 57. Cylindrical pins 58, 59 slidably fit into the ends of the support mounting bore and projections 65, 66 extend radially from pins 58, 59 through slots 67, 68 in the tubular member for actuating the spring loaded axial movement of the pins. Two Z-shaped spring clips 61 Fig. 3, acting on U-shaped members 62, hold the plate outwardly. In another embodiment, the plate 56 is held outwardly by helical springs connected to the lower end of plate 56 and to transverse members 46, 47. Rotor 55 has removable supports 74 for rasp bars 75.
