Abstract
1352214 Injection moulding MANNESMANN-MEER AG 19 July 1971 [30 July 1970] 33855/71 Heading B5A A plasticizing worm 1 rotatable by a drive 3 is axially reciprocable by a hydro-pneumatic system cylinder chamber 6 divided by a free piston 7 into an hydraulic chamber connected to a pump 11 via relief valve 9 and entered by a piston member 4 attached to the rear of the screw, and a pneumatic chamber connected via a shut-off valve 10 to an accumulator 8. The hydraulic pump 11 is activated to fill chamber 6 and move piston 7 rearwardly to displace gas into accumulator 8. The valve 10 is then closed and pump 11 stopped. The worm 1 is rotated, with the injection nozzle closed, to fill the injector and drive the worm and piston 4 rearwardly displacing hydraulic fluid from chamber 6 through relief valve 9. The rotary drive is stopped and the injection nozzle and valve 10 opened to allow the compressed gas to move piston 4 forward and inject the melt.
