Abstract

1352128 Moulding footwear FOSTER YATES & THOM Ltd 25 Aug 1971 [25 Aug 1970] 40779/70 Heading B5A A mould for an article of footwear comprises a plurality of members 1, 2, 3 for defining an upper and forming a cavity for the reception of interchangeable mould plates 4, 5, the cavity having a first seat 10 against which the first mould plate 4 abuts during moulding of the upper, and a second seat 6 against which the second mould plate 5 abuts during moulding of a sole on to the upper. The upper half of the drawing shows the mould plate 4 while the lower half shows the mould plate 5. The seats 10, 6 engage lips 9, 7 on the mould plates 4, 5 respectively, the seat 10 being surrounded by a welt-defining portion 8. A plurality of moulds may be mounted on a rotary table, a pair of injection heads being spaced around the table for injecting different materials or materials of different colours for the upper and sole.
