Abstract

1351640 Valves for lighters MANSEI KOGYO KK 19 April 1971 [14 April 1970] 26966/71 Heading F4F A combined filling and burner valve for a gas fuelled lighter which allows for adjustment of the flame comprises a main cylindrical body 2 mounted in a fuel reservoir tank 1 and having a discharge nozzle 6 biased by a spring 7 to keep open a gas bore 12 so as to communicate with a side opening 9, a resilient porous adjusting member 15 for regulating the flow of gas through bore 12 and thereby the flame height by means of pressure applied thereto by a regulating means 18 screw-threadedly engaging with the main body 2, and a valve member 22 biased by a spring 23 to seal a filling passage 28 but displaceable on the insertion of a filling nozzle to allow gas to pass into the reservoir 1 through openings 31 and 32 which also serve to feed gas to the discharge nozzle when the latter is raised by the spring 7. The discharge nozzle is normally held down by a snuffer cap 23 to close bore 12 by means of a rubber or other resilient member 10 and the filling valve is sealed by the engagement of a sealing ring 26 on a seat 30. In a second embodiment a further opening is provided in the wall of the main cylindrical body adjacent the porous resilient member which may be of sponge-rubber, said further opening being covered by a layer of sponge rubber or synthetic resin which stores the fuel gas and supplies said gas at a constant rate of flow to the discharge nozzle.
