Abstract
1351447 Buckle anchorages KANGOL MAGNET Ltd 30 July 1971 [17 Aug 1970 15 Sept 1970] 39494/70 and 44026/70 Headings E2A and E2B A device comprises one part of a two part buckle an anchor member for connection to a vehicle anchorage and supporting a buckle member carrying the one buckle part, the anchor and buckle members being relatively movable to effect adjustment in use of the distance between the vehicle anchorage and the one buckle part, and a fastener mechanism operable, in response to the connection in use of the other buckle part to the one buckle part carried by the buckle member to fasten the anchor and buckle members against relative movement to increase the distance. The one buckle part comprises a socket pressing 20 secured to a steel tube 44 which extends coaxially into a second steel tube 46. A rod 56 extends coaxially within the tube 44, one end of the rod engages a pawl 48 with toothed ends and mounted on a pivot 53 on one end of the tube 44. The pawl being spring urged out of engagement with the threaded interior of the tube 46. The other end of the rod extends into a sleeve 58 and engages one end of a spring 60. When a tongue 10 is inserted into the buckle socket the rod 56 is depressed causing the pawl to pivot to engage the threaded interior of the tube 46 and fasten the tubes 44, 46 together. A mounting plate 64 has a hole 68 for securing to a seat frame and a bolt through a hole 62 at the lower end of the device secures the device to the anchorage. The tongue is secured in the socket by a latching member 30 connected to an actuating lever 32 operated by a push button 34, the latching member engages in one of two recesses in opposite order of the tongue. In a modification shown in Fig. 4 insertion of the tongue depresses a rod 74 which compresses a.spring 96 between a shoulder on the rod and a disc 90 which is urged downwardly in a tube 80 carrying with it a cylindrical casing 92 having holes for balls 102 so that the balls wedge between a frusto conical member 88 on a tube 78 and the interior wall of the tube 80. The tubes 78 and 80, which are respectively secured to the buckle socket and anchorage, are secured together in adjusted position.
