Abstract
996,065. Buckles; strap fastenings. A. G. CARTER. Aug. 21, 1961 [Feb. 6, 1961], No. 30119/61. Heading E2A. A buckle comprises a plate having a tongue, a frame having a base, the base and tongue having overlapping parts with means which are disengageable on moving the tongue in a direction at right angles to the base, and which are locked by a slide member which is spring urged towards the locking position and is .moved by a handle against the action of the spring. The plate of buckle section 23 has one or two apertures which engage either one or two raised lugs 29, in the base of the channelled frame 24. A slide member 33 is urged to locking position over the lugs by two springs 39 surrounding the legs of a U-shaped wire and abutting an anchor 47 on the frame. The legs slide through the anchor and terminate in an end flange 54 of the slide. The frame has the operating handle 37 for releasing the lock. One end of the belt is secured by a loop passing through an aperture in the plate and the other end passes adjustably round a pin 52 slidably mounted in side walls of the frame 24. Alternatively the belt may pass round two pins and have between two layers of belt a sheet steel release member with a part cylindrical section engaging round one pin. The release member has lateral pins which are gripped to release the belt by moving the member out of engagement with the pin. The belt is adjustably secured to an apertured floor anchorage by a loop formed by passing one ply through the aperture then passing the double ply through two apertures in a movable plate and through the anchorage aperture. Specification 920,365 is referred to.
