Abstract
1351198 Organic solvent G M STEPHENSON 19 April 1971 [23 March 1970] 24609/71 Heading C5D A composition suitable for cleaning optical glass without rubbing comprises (a) 70-99 weight per cent consisting of two or more alcohols selected from methanol, ethanol, npropanol, iso-propanol and C 3-5 ethylenically unsaturated alcohols and (b) 1-30% of at least one other organic solvent. The other solvent may be 3,5-dimethyl-hex-1-yn-3-ol, a dialkyl ether, or ethylene glycol monomethyl or monobutyl ether. The composition may also include sodium dioctyl sulphosuccinate. The glass may be sprayed with the composition either by pumping or in the form of an aerosol and then drip-dried. Alternatively it may be immersed in a bath of the composition which is agitated ultrasonically.
