Abstract

1351002 Treating fabrics with two different agents including a pesticide KANEGAFUCHI BOSEKI KK 19 April 1971 [3 Feb 1970 29 Sept 1970] 20988/71 Heading A5E [Also in Division Dl] A fabric e.g. a polyester, nylon, cotton, polyethylene, rayon or polyacrylonitrile fabric has two different chemical treating agents applied thereto by a process in which at least one of said agents is applied to a surface of the fabric in a pattern of zones or is applied to the whole of one surface of the fabric and another agent is applied to the surface of the fabric so that each agent is at least partially unmasked by the other agent(s). The agents may be applied by spraying, padding, printing or coating in the form of emulsions, pastes, containing sizing agents, dispersions or solutions in aqueous or organic solvents which may contain surfactants or in microcapsules rupturable by heat or pressure or as the pure treating agent. The agent may be fixed after application by heat, ageing, steam, solvent extraction, chemical fixing or drying at room temperature. Where agents interact the fabric may be first treated to reduce its permeability. The agents may be applied striped, square or circular zones. Many agents are exemplified and those mentioned are of the following types:-shrink proofing, dust-proofing, antipilling, water-repellent, elasticizing, hygroscopic, antistatic, stain-proofing, flame-proofing, antifusion softening, U.V.-absorbing, crease-proofing. Water-absorbing, heat-resisting delustering agents, soil-releasing, moth-proofing, mildew-proofing agents e.g. pentachlorophenol, sodium pentachlorophenate, metal naphthenates, quaternary ammonium salts, tributyltin salts, phenyl and ethyl mercuric compounds, mercuric chloride, butyl-p-hydroxybenzoate, sodium 3, 5, 3', 5'-tetrachloro-2, 2'-dihydroxy triphenyl methane-2"-sulphonate, disulphobenzoate of pentachloro dihydroxy triphenyl methane, dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane, sodium 3, 5, 3', 5', 4"-pentachloro-2, 2'-dihydroxy triphenyl methane-2"-sulphonate, 3, 4-dichlorobenzene sulphomethyl amide or sodium chloro-o-cresolate.
