Abstract

1350938 Quick release fastenings GULLICK DOBSON Ltd 22 Sept 1972 [2 Oct 1971] 45969/71 Heading E2B [Also in Division F2] A quick-release pipe or hose coupling comprises two tubular elements 10, 11 and at least two circumferentially spaced links 15 each having one of its ends pivotally attached to the element 10, and a cam device 20 at the other end of each link and adapted to engage an annular flange 22 of the element 11. The elements are secured together by angular overcentre movement of the cam devices, and means are provided for adjusting the effective length of the links; as shown, the links are pivoted on eyebolts 17 adjustably secured via flange 18, and the elements have a ball-andsocket connection 12, 14 a sealing ring 13 being disposed in the protuberance 12 or in the socket. In modifications, the eyebolts are mounted on a ring carried by the element 10 and having a ball-and-socket connection therewith, or a ring rotatable on that element, there being co-operating camming surfaces between the ring and element. The flange 22 may include a recess 21 provided with a cam-like or undulating contour 26.
