Abstract

1350929 Pharmaceutical compositions SANDOZ Ltd 19 April 1971 [9 Feb 1970 3 Sept 1970] 21228/71 Heading A5B Hypocholesterolemic, / hypolipidaemic compositions comprise as active ingredient a compound of the formula in which R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different, each signifies a hydrogen atom or a C 1-20 alkyl radical, with the proviso that the sum of the number of carbon atoms in R 1 and R 2 is from 10 to 30, in free base or pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt form, in association with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent or carrier, the compositions being in solid unit dosage form and containing from 12-5 to 500 mg, or in solid unit sustained release form and containing from 50 to 1000 mg. of the active ingredient. Specified salts include hydrochlorides, hydrobromides, sulphates, phosphates, succinates, benzoates, acetates, p-toluene sulphonates, benzene-sulphonates, maleates, malates, tartrates, methanesulphonates and cyclohexylsulphamates. The compositions may be administered orally in the form of tablets or capsules.
