Abstract
135,024. Lewthwaite, J. Dec. 30, 1918. Beat-up motions; reeds.-In a loom in which warp cops are carried by tubular holder raised and lowered to form the shreds and the weft is inserted by a swinging tubular arm, the warps pass over a compound roller 11, comprising a series of thin metal plates or disks 58 threaded on a square shaft 57 with intermediate plates 61 upon which plates 64 are pivoted, the warp threads passing over the plates 61, 64 and between the plates 58, whereby they are laid parallel and the width of the cloth is determined. The weft is laid between the teeth 59, 60 on the plates 58. and the roller 11 is oscillated by cam-controlled mechanism, so that the teeth 59 sink from between the warp threads and the teeth 60 enter between these threads and beat up the weft.
