Abstract
1350111 Automatic exchange systems SIEMENS AG 20 Sept 1971 [23 Sept 1970] 43671/71 Heading H4K In a telecommunications system in which each of a plurality of pieces of equipment are connectable to a common circuit, in which a line associated with the path is connected to a potential source capable of enabling a single relay, and in which each piece of equipment has an individual seizure circuit associated therewith, which when its piece of equipment requires access to the common circuit repeatedly connects a relay to the multi-conductor line, a response of the relay indicating that the path is free at that instant, each seizure circuit has provision to alter the duration for which its said relay is connected to the multi-conductor line. In that the interval between connection attempts is not altered the chance of successful seizure varies with this duration and can be discretely varied by setting relay contacts in accordance with the degree of urgency of the connection. If for example the common circuit is a central control unit and one of the pieces of equipment is an auxiliary control unit then that auxiliary control unit may have priority of access over the other pieces of equipment and a relay contact in its seizure circuit may be set such that whenever the auxiliary control unit requires access to the common control unit it connects its relay to the multi-conductor line until that relay responds.
