Abstract

1350020 Rotary positive displacement machines MONARK-CRESCENT AB 8 Feb 1972 [8 Feb 1971] 5861/72 Heading F1F A rotary piston machine comprises apex seals 4 and side seals 7 in a piston 1, the apex seals 4 having their ends cut to permit coupling members 6 to be inserted in the ends of the apex seal grooves, a space 16 being left between each seal 4 and the respective coupling member 6 and the side seals 7 simultaneously sealingly engaging both the apex seals and members 6. A spring 13 urges the apex seal outwardly and also the members 6 outwardly. The spring preferably only engages the seal 4 and members 6, but not the groove Fig.3 (not shown), and the spring may be fixed to the apex seal and coupling members by clamps integral with the spring Figs.4, 5 and 6 (not shown). The groove can be V-sectioned Fig.7 (not shown), and the side seals specially widened where they engage the apex seals and coupling members Figs.8, 9, 10 (not shown). Also described is an embodiment having a U- shaped groove and twin, parallel, side seals Figs. 11 and 12, (not shown).
