Abstract

1349637 Welding by pressure PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 27 Feb 1973 9509/73 Heading B3R [Also in Division F2] A method of manufacturing a steel T-nut, i.e. an internally threaded hollow cylindrical body 1 formed with an external flange 2 at one end, includes the step of welding a steel disc 10 into the bore 4 at the end adjacent the flange to close the bore. Welding is effected by means of upper and lower resistance welding electrodes 11, 8. The nut is intended for use as a socket for the attachment of legs, e.g. to a T.V. or radio cabinet and is provided with anchoring prongs 3 bent from the flange material.
